Artie is a mixed methods researcher who focuses on the intersections of memory, emotion, behavior change, and technology. He specializes in Technology Mediated Reflection (TMR) which is the use of technology to support reminiscence on digital memories. Examples include Facebook’s On This Day, Timehop, 1 Second Everyday, and apps he has helped design and research like MoodAdaptor and Echo. His research explores how TMR improves well-being, influences organic memory, interacts with mood, and supports more general behavior change goals. His Ph.D. is in Cognitive Psychology from UC Santa Cruz, with advisor Steve Whittaker.
Artie is currently a UX Researcher at Meta Reality Labs working on new AR/VR devices.
